Is Club Soccer the Right Next Step for Your Player?
Every season we hear the same question from Paladin families:
“How do we know if our child is ready for club soccer?”
For many players, the journey into club soccer actually begins right here in our Paladin recreational program. As kids grow in their love for the game, some families start wondering what the next step might look like.
That’s where Paladin Soccer Club comes in.
Club soccer simply provides more training, more touches on the ball, and a slightly more competitive environment for players who want to continue developing their skills.
But the most important thing to understand is this:
Attending evaluations does not commit your player to joining a club team.
Evaluations are simply an opportunity for our coaches to see players in a training environment and help determine the best developmental pathway.
Our Club Pathway at Paladin
Paladin offers two levels of club soccer depending on a player’s age and stage of development.
Academy (7U–10U)
Our Academy program is designed for younger players who are ready for more structured training and small-sided competitive games.
Unlike many Arizona clubs that require a full 8–9 month commitment, Paladin offers a two-season model:
- Season 1: August–November
- Season 2: January–April
Families can participate in one season or both, giving kids the chance to continue exploring other sports and activities.
At this stage, the focus is simple: Develop skills. Build confidence. Keep the game fun.
Competitive (11U+)
Our Competitive program is designed for older players who want to continue growing in a more structured club environment.
Competitive teams typically include:
- Weekly training sessions
- League competition
- Tournament play
- Continued technical and tactical development
While the level of competition increases, Paladin’s culture remains the same.
We believe soccer should be a place where players grow as athletes and as people.
5 Signs Your Child May Be Ready for Club Soccer
Many parents assume club soccer is only for elite players, but often the biggest indicator is simply a love for the game.
Your child might be ready for club soccer if they:
- Want to practice and play more often
- Show excitement about improving their skills
- Enjoy the challenge of competition
- Ask to play soccer outside of scheduled practices
- Are looking for the next step after recreational soccer
Club soccer isn’t about pressure — it’s about providing an environment where motivated players can continue growing.
A Different Kind of Club
Paladin Soccer Club was built on four simple values:
Faith. Family. Fun. Fight.
We believe youth sports should develop character, resilience, and confidence, not just results on the scoreboard.
Our goal is to create an environment where kids:
- Love coming to training
- Are challenged to improve
- Feel supported by coaches and teammates
- Grow in both confidence and character
Common Questions from Rec Families
Is club soccer a big time commitment?
It depends on age, but most teams train 2 times per week with weekend games. Our Academy program also offers the flexibility of two separate seasons, rather than a full-year commitment.
What if my child attends evaluations but isn’t ready for club?
That’s completely okay. Our coaches will help recommend the best environment for development, which may still be recreational soccer.
Does attending evaluations mean we have to join a team?
No. Evaluations are simply an opportunity for our coaches to see players and help determine the best path forward.
There is no obligation to join a club team after attending.
